The Purple Paint Incident

Less than a month ago I predicted it would happen. It did and it has taken me more than a week to finally laugh at this story, not cry. The pictures don't do it justice. It was a mess that took hours to clean up and almost caused a total mental breakdown.

This is what happened:

Rich left to go paint a demonstration at the gallery he is currently showing at. Anja was upset when he left so I sat down to do a puzzle with her. About 10 minutes after he left I ran up stairs. Three minutes latter I came back down and called to her. I heard Anja call "me-me" and saw a purple monster walk out of Rich's studio. When Rich left the door didn't latch behind him and she went looking for him. Instead, she found a tube of dark purple oil paint. Not only was it on her, her clothes, the bottom of her feet but also in her mouth and hair (she must have tasted it). I grabbed her, now it was on me, ran upstairs and put her in the tub, so now it was my white marble tub. I called Rich in tears not knowing what to do. I then called my parents and they hurried over to help me scrub down the carpet, tub, daughter, and computer with alcohol. The worse part was when I called poison control and the man who answered said, "Is this Nichole calling?" They know me by name. How long until DCFS comes knocking at the door? The studio door now has a spring latch that locks the door behind you. The clothes all went in the trash.

Oh my. I bet you were stressed. This is when "What About Bob" comes to mind. BABY STEPS! You can't look at the mess as a whole--it's just too much. You have to take it on little piece by little piece. She looks like she won a boxing match by the way. Glad you were able to clean it up and she didn't eat too much :) Once Braden decided to glue his entire hand with a hot glue gun. I cried for a few days myself with that one.
