Paint Incident, part two..Or it happened again.. Or our baby loves eating paint

Yes, round two. This time I can laugh about it (if you are new to the blog look up the purple paint incident for reference). On Thursday my husband took half the day off so I could go to the spa and enjoy some kid free time. I admit it, I am a spa junky. Anyway, this is what happened:

Rich put Anja and Jensen in the backseat of his car. While he was distracted with driving, she opened the latch on his art container (think large toolbox) and pulled out two tubes of paint. One was black one was green. She ate some of both and got a bit on her clothes. Remember the whole time Jensen is sitting right by her and didn't notice! He wasn't even watching a DVD, she's just very sneaky. It all ended well-- the car, clothes and child are intact. I'm really not kidding when I say poison control knows us by name. On a positive note, my muscles are relaxed and my nails look great.

The pumpkin patch

It's a tradition that started when Carter was born and we all look forward to it. It's the annual trip to the local pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkin. This year Harold and Leora joined us as well as Rich's two nieces who go to BYU (yeah, he's old enough to have nieces in college). It was fun!

SUCCESS!!!

Over 900 people walked today. We fed them, clothed them and entertained them. Huge thanks to the U of U soccer team (would I ask any other school to come?) who played soccer with the older kids after they got back from walking (MA students lost) and they signed tonz of autographs. Grizbee from the Utah Grizzlies was a huge hit and fun to have! Watch channel 13 tonight and read the Tribune in the morning-- they were both there! Way to go committee!

Walk-a-thon count down

One day to go... successfully got 435 shirt out with only 11 problems. Collected another $200 today in donations. Tomorrow is the walking part of the event. Thank goodness it wont rain. Rich and my dad both took the day off to help me--- I LOVE my family and their commitment to something we call, "Bywater/Coombs Family Projects". Thanks Kristin for taking care of Anja today. She loves her aunt KC and Nadia.. you're awesome!

Oh yeah, Happy Birthday to my new brother-in-law, Steven.

Who is the gate keeper?

I've had this debate with my girlfriends and my hubbie for a few days. So, who's the gatekeeper at your house when it comes to time? I take on that role. Why? Because I'm the one who juggles everyone's schedules. I decide if we really have the time to add one more afternoon event into our lives. So why the debate? Well, I think, as the adult female in the house, I can choose where I spend the few volunteer hours I have in a day. I am choosing to spend them at the school for the next two years. So, when the call comes to add another volunteer obligation to the list isn't it my choice to say, "not something I can do right now, I'm obligated somewhere else"? I think so, Rich doesn't (throw the whole church thing in there and you can see the conflict). I have no problem saying no when it's not something I can do, and do well (personal thing there). Someone has to be the gatekeeper and make sure kids are eating their vegetables, practicing the piano, doing their homework and yeah--laundry, house cleaning, make the lunches, pay the bills, buy groceries and my personal favorite-- put out the trash. So, who's the gatekeeper at your house? Food for thought....
