Grandma's Funeral

So much happened so fast this week. First, thanks for the many notes and phone calls. And to my dear girlfriends for the beautiful flowers. It means the world. You know me well!!

The funeral was a happy one. Grandma was 92 years old! I really don't know that I want to live that long. It was my honor to write her obituary (here).

The kids at the cemetery after two long days of wearing church clothes!!

My brothers and cousins (Mat is in the front on the left, the really tall guy behind him is Scott our "little" brother)

My little Jensen was asked to play the prelude music before the funeral services. He was so nervous! He asked if we could call Ms. Julie (his teacher) and have her play the left hand with him so he didn't have to worry about it. She agreed and the two did a beautiful job. When he asks when he can stop taking lessons I always say, "when you can play Clair de la Lune well enough to play it at my funeral." I may regret my words. He played the Suzuki version flawlessly on Monday at grandma's funeral. Things come full circle. Kristin played the song on the flute at my grandma Kresser's funeral 10 years ago. It was her favorite song...

I would call this a happy day. Grandma got her wish to be free of the cares of the world and we go to be together as a family. The only one missing is Steve, who was at work.
