Sundance: FHE
The first night at the cabin was Monday, so we had FHE. We had planned to honor our wonderful patriarch and my father-in-law who turned 70 this year. Each family acted out parts of his life that we've heard stories about. Rich loves telling the story of when his dad stripped him down to his tighty-whities and put him out the front door because during family prayer he wouldn't tell his sisters he loved them and threatened to run away. So his dad said that was fine, he could leave but he'd go out of the house with what he came into it with--nothing. Jensen did a wonderful job of playing Rich. There were also funny memories of when Harold and Leora were dating, with Uncle David in the backseat of the car. And who knew there were so many funny memories of one-piece "g's"? I learned a lot that night.
Harold with all of his grandchildren (missing only Tiff who lives in Japan). We are so lucky to have him in our life. I may not be the best daughter-in-law by a long shot. But I must have done something right to end up with a father-in-law who loves my children so much and molded the man I married. Harold is the calming force that keeps us all grounded. He makes us proud to be called Coombs.
